How to Uncover Lucrative Blog Post Ideas for Your Startup - Step by Step

Updated: Mar 14

Should a startup have a blog?

What are some good startup blog ideas?

This page shows you the entire process of brainstorming startup blog ideas and creating startup blog content that turns your website visitors into leads, sign-ups, and customers.

The process of creating the perfect blog content for your startup target audience STRICTLY depends on the lucrative startup blog ideas you can brainstorm and research.

And not just what SEO tools tell you! This process is usually ignored by most startup & company blogs I look up these days.

The sole purpose of this step is to help you publish only the best possible blog posts that your potential customers want to consume every single time.

Whenever I want to write a new blog post for my content clients over at SimonWrites Agency, I begin by spending 15 to 20 minutes juggling post ideas and putting them down.

This could be in my notebook or my digital notekeeper, Evernote.

It's an easy strategy I am going to teach you in this article.

Coming Up with Lucrative Startup Blog Ideas Your Customers Want:

The process of creating the perfect blog post or generating the perfect blog ideas for your startup depends on the lucrative blog ideas that you can come up with or brainstorm.

Most startups make use of expensive SEO tools to handle this process.

And what happens is they end up writing for search engines and not for their potential customers.

The sole purpose of this is to help you publish only the best startup blog posts for your brand that attract potential customers who want to pay for your products every single time.

For my content writing clients, what I do before writing a blog post I begin by brainstorming lucrative post ideas and researching them on platforms like Quora and Reddit. And then I put them down. Now this could be in my notebook or a jotter.

Coming Up with Lucrative Startup Blog Post Ideas Your customers Want:

What topics do your potential customers want to see on your website?

This process requires you to think in two ways:

#1: Your products and;

#2: Your target audience.

Your content or blog ideas should be able to create a balance between your products and your target customers.

During brainstorming, I ask questions like;

What do my target customers search for on Google?”

“What are common problems my target customers are facing?

What are they buying?

What blog content can I write that would answer specifically these questions that my target audience is buying?”

“How can I enlighten my target customers about our products and services?”

Go through these questions thoroughly to come up with random ideas for your startup.

Brainstorming Lucrative Blog Topic Ideas for Your Startup:

You should be able to brainstorm blog topic ideas that will attract potential customers or clients, educate them, and provide top-notch value.

And then your posts should be able to get them excited about your products or your services or at least joining your email list.

Every content you publish must take the reader or visitor on a marketing or sales journey.

I use a strategy I always mention on this blog, which is the 3 Es of writing converting blog articles for your small business or startup.

EXCITE (E1): Each blog post should get your target audience (potential customers and clients) excited to click and read them.

EDUCATE (E2): Secondly, your content must be able to educate them on your product, on your services or help them solve a particular problem.

ENTICE (E3): And lastly, your articles and posts should entice your ideal audience to pay for your products or services or become a lead.

Here's how I was able to come up with profitable blog post ideas for one of my clients, UniclixApp:

When working with UniclixApp, we devised a strategy to come up with new content ideas for the social media marketing blog.

The goal was to get small businesses, entrepreneurs, and marketers who were either looking for a social media management tool to help them or were already using a social media management tool but wanted a less expensive option that was easy to use.

A quick after quick brainstorming of profitable articles, we were able to come up with topics like:

  • Hootsuite alternatives you should try” - in this blog article, we would mention UniclxApp in the list of Hootsuite alternatives.

  • Free social media management tools for small businesses in 2024” - We will also mention this as well in this article.

  • Top 5 Buffer Alternatives for Influencers and Small Businesses” - This would allow us to target influencers and small business owners who are familiar with Buffer and are looking for alternatives to use.

  • 7 Steps to Become a Better Social Media Management Manager for Your Business” - We talk about the relevant steps to becoming a better social media manager for your brand and then we also show how to handle social media management better which is one of the steps to becoming a great social media manager. And then include UniclixApp as a great social media management tool to try out.

The 3 Steps to Generate Lucrative Startup Blog Ideas for Your Brand

There are several AI keyword tools online but I use and recommend Google Keyword Planner and Ahrefs.

The second step is keyword research and I make use of Google Keyword Planner to carry out keyword research for my clients and my blog.

Most times, we try to think for our customers and clients.

This leads us to assume what our target customers are looking for, which is entirely wrong.

What startups should be doing is using a keyword research tool like Google Keyword Planner to find exactly what their potential customers are searching for on search engines like Google.

By doing this, you make sure you are going for content ideas that people are interested in.

For our clients with new blogs, we like to target less competitive keywords. We can aim for much more competitive keywords as we build a stronger SEO profile.

The next step is to use Quora and ensure that people are looking for these questions.

I use Quora a lot because it is an organic social media platform that allows internet users to ask questions and answer freely.

After brainstorming a couple of blog post ideas, I go on Quora and search these keywords.

I get to fetch out real questions that people are searching for or are asking on Quora. This way, I can get ideas even from the questions and answers for blog content.

This ensures you are writing or solving real problems your target customers are facing.

I also use Ahrefs for keyword research for my blog posts and my SEO clients. With proper research, you evaluate startup blog ideas based on what your target customers are interested in.

This will help you strike out all other things your audience may not be interested in.

Here's how to evaluate your startup blog ideas in GKP.

How to Validate Your Startup Blog Ideas Using Google Keyword Planner in 3 Steps

After I pull off all the relevant questions on Quora that my target customers are asking online. The next thing I do is make use of Google Keyword Planner to validate each content idea.

These blog ideas will generate sales and attract traffic.

I have a simple three-step plan that I use Google Keyword Planner to validate every startup blog idea.

Step 1 - I identify the main keyword or phrase on every Quora question that I pull up.

Step 2 - I run it on Google Keyword Planner or any other keyword research tool like Ahrefs.

Step 3 - I select all keywords with at least 1000 and begin generating lucrative blog post headlines for SEO.

The first step is to identify the main keyword.

What is the main keyword in a Quora question?

The main keyword is the keyword or phrase that the majority of your target audience would type in Google search or any other search engine.

For example;

What are 10 Great Social Media Management Tools for Influencers?” - The main keyword here would be “social media management tools for influencers”.

Thus that would be the keyword you'd be inserting and checking in your Google Keyword Planner.

Secondly, run it up on Google Keyword Planner.

Head to your Google Ads account, go to Tools and Settings, and select Keyword Planner.

Put all of your keywords that are your main keywords or key phrases into the search bar and run.

You can also use Ahrefs which is a premium keyword research and SEO tool but I love Google Keyword Planner because it is completely free and easier to use for keyword research.

What Google Keyword Planner (GKP) does is show you a breakdown and SEO details of each keyword.

Startup Blog Ideas: How to Brainstorm 100 Lucrative Blog Post Ideas (in Minutes)

For my clients with new blogs, I like to go for the less competitive keywords or key phrases which are popularly called “low-hanging fruit” in SEO.

This will allow us to build domain authority over time as we go for much more competitive keywords.

Also, be sure to pay attention to the competitiveness of every keyword.

Every keyword has different competitiveness, so be sure to pay attention to that as well. And for newer websites, go for less competitive keywords to allow you to rank faster.

The next thing I do is think of 5 to 10 headline ideas for every content that I select in the previous step.

This will help me have a couple of ideas I could pick from and this should be the one that resonates and gets people (my target audience) to click.

Selecting the perfect headline is very crucial, and it can make or break your blog post approach.

Each headline should be limited to 75 characters and you should be able to pick headlines that speak directly to your ideal and target customers.

How to Begin Writing High-Converting SEO Headlines for Your Startup Blog Posts

How do you write great and high-converting blog headlines for your startup blog posts?

Begin by aiming for 50 characters per headline or less now.

The shorter your blog posts the better.

With time and as you practice, you should be able to write better headlines for your blogs.

Feel free to send to your colleagues, friends, and fellow bloggers to tell you which headlines they would most likely click.

Or if you already have an audience, feel free to reach out.

You can also run social media polls, for example on LinkedIn, asking your followers on social media which headlines they would most likely love to read.

With time and practice, you should be able to write great headlines that attract your customers.

You could also use free AI headline generator tools like "Headline Analyzer" from Coschedule or any other AI writing tool to help you get a couple of ideas off the ground.
